Pregnancy and Chiropractic Support

Pregnancy can be a confusing, lonely, and uncomfortable time – but it doesn’t need to be.

Our doctors are here to support you through every trimester, labor and delivery, and the postpartum period. We work to educate, support, and offer relief.

During pregnancy, gentle chiropractic care is a safe and important treatment as your body goes through many changes and prepares for delivery.

Morning sickness, sciatica, mid or low back pain, groin pain, and symphysis pubis dysfunction are all common problems that chiropractic care can help lessen or alleviate during pregnancy so you can get back to enjoying this amazing time.

After pregnancy, chiropractic care can help with realigning your pelvis after delivery, relieving midback pain from breastfeeding your little, relieving discomfort from your menstrual cycles, and much more.

Webster Technique

Our providers are certified in Webster Technique, a specialty for working with pelvic balance in pregnancy which allows you and your baby to be more comfortable throughout pregnancy.

Webster Technique has been shown to create conditions for a safer and easier birth for both mom and baby. By releasing soft tissue tension in the pelvis, sacrum, lower back, and gluteal muscles, your body will be able to more comfortably adjust to all the needs of your body while growing a little.

As your baby grows, your organs need to move up to create room. Chiropractic care paired with Webster Technique ensures that:

What is a chiropractic session experience like during pregnancy?

When you come in for your session, you’ll first receive an exam from your provider to determine how your system is moving (or not moving).

Then you’ll lie facedown with a pregnancy pillow – this is often the most exciting part, as you get to lie down comfortably face-down!

Here, we’ll do a gentle adjustment of your sacrum to put proper motion back into the joint. There’s no twisting or popping, but instead we use an instrument called an activator that feels and sounds like a click. After the gentle adjustment, you’ll move your hips like you’re walking up a ladder to help release your sacrum.

The next stop is to lie down face up, where we’ll do a broad ligament release.

Your doctor will locate a tender point at the bottom of your uterus where your ligaments come together to support the weight of your baby, water, and placenta. We’ll make sure that those ligaments are balanced so you don’t have any tender points.

Your provider may also add some Dynamic Body Balancing (DBB) techniques to assist in the balancing of the muscles and connective tissue of your body. DBB can look like:

The entire treatment is safe and comfortable for both mom and baby. If you have any questions, please call us!
