Episode 16: How to Detox the Halloween Sugars

How to Detox the Halloween Sugars

Halloween and trick or treating may look a bit different this year, but it’s still the beginning of the holiday season where our eating habits change, and sometimes not for the better. Today we’ll dive into my top 10 unhealthy candies, why they are unhealthy, and what you can do to detox after Halloween goodies.

Top 10 unhealthy candies – My top 10 unhealthy candy list have big 3 things in common, they all are high in fructose corn syrup which is an artificial sweetener that can lead to metabolic changes in our systems such as fatty liver, diabetes, weight gain, and increased appetite. Another factor they have in common is that they are made with artificial colors such as Red 40 which has cancer-causing agents. And lastly, these top 10 candies are all high in transfats which raise inflammation, raise bad cholesterol and can increase the risk of diabetes.

Mini-Detox

If you end up eating too many unhealthy candies this holiday season, here is a way to cleanse your liver right at home. My favorite quick and easy way is to do a mini sugar detox that helps reset the liver but your unhealthy habits as well. When you increase the right foods and decrease the bad habits, you’ll support the liver which will make you feel better.

  • Stay hydrated! Try adding lemon and natural sea salt to help the water get into and clear the cells so the body functions better.
  • Increase green veggies! They may not be your favorite, but they have superpowers. So stock up on broccoli, cabbage, cauliflower, kale, and brussels sprouts.

Dry Skin Brushing: This is a quick and easy way to flush your system with this easy tip.

Use a gentle dry skin brush moving it gently towards the center of your body. This helps get the movement going in the skin to remove dead skin & toxins, helps cellulite, lymphatic functions, blood circulation & exfoliation.
